In 2008, two sisters (Sandra O'Malley and Lori Hawkins - that's me!) sewed baby slings for ourselves and some friends and became known as the “Sling Sisters” in their small Manitoba community of St. Adolphe. The business evolved and product options grew to include reusable snack bags and wet bags. Our new eco-friendly products became so popular that we decided to focus on accessories production, launching a new brand identity as Colibri. Colibri is the latin root of hummingbird and represents independence, freedom and efficiency.
All Colibri products are proudly manufactured in St. Adolphe, Manitoba where we employ the best local people. Our facility is located on the second floor of a heritage building that is owned by the local non-profit seniors association. Colibri employees enjoy many benefits such as flexible hours, weekly staff lunch, random gifts, and excellent coffee.
Sandra's son Charlie was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes (T1D) in July 2016. We are proud to support JDRF in advancing treatments and researching to find a cure. 1% of all online sales (excluding fundraisers and wholesale) is donated to JDRF! You can read more about this on our blog post.
Colibri products can now be found in hundreds of retail boutiques across Canada. Visit our store locator to find one near you!
